Sony Electronics announced two G Master super-telephoto prime lenses for the Alpha full-frame E-mount system: the FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS, the world’s lightest1 lenses in their respective categories.Both lenses will be available from October 2026. The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS will retail for MSRP $2,699.99 USD and $3,579.99 CAD and the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS for MSRP $3,699.99 USD and $4,999.99 CAD.
The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS weighs approximately 994 g and the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS approximately 995 g. Both lenses deliver the resolution and bokeh that define the G Master series across the super-telephoto range, capturing distant subjects in fine detail. Fast, precise, and quiet Auto Focus (AF) lets you capture fast-moving subjects.
“With the needs of wildlife and sports photographers in mind, from birders on a dawn hike to pros on the sideline, we applied our G Master expertise to create the world’s lightest 400mm and 600mm primes in their class, combining outstanding optical performance with a design that’s comfortable to carry all day,” said Yang Cheng, Vice President of Imaging Solutions, Sony Electronics.
The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS measures approximately 108 mm in maximum diameter and 242 mm in length; the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS measures approximately 108 mm in maximum diameter and 263 mm in length.
